Seafood Exports to China Hit US$100Mln
Vietnam has so far this year gained US$100 million from seafood exports to China, showing a slight increase against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The Chinese market is viewed as a potential market for Vietnam's aquatic products in the years to come. However, the country's aquatic export volume to China has only been modest.
The association said the Fisheries Ministry and the VASEP would conduct a market survey program in China’s southern Yunnan province and participate in China’s Fishing Trade Fair, the biggest of its kind in Asia, in Guangzhou from November 10-12.
During the fair, Vietnamese seafood exporters and producers expect to establish co-operative ties with partners from all over the world.
The move is part of a program launched by the association to boost seafood exports to China after several unfavorable changes have been found in many Vietnamese major seafood export markets including Japan, EU, and the US.
In the same move, local exporters have been advised to use train cars equipped with freezers to transport aquatic products to the neighboring market in order to cut down on costs.
