SATRA: 10 Years of Growth

Saigon Trade Corporation (Satra Corp) has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary (November 2, 1995-2005). As corporation 90 established by the government, Satra comprised of member units from various fields (trade, service, production, processing) and of different ownership (dependent accounting, joint stock, and share holding). On May 17, 2005, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee decided to transform it into a parent company with registered capital over VND1,212 billion. Over the past 10 years, Satra has developed a famous trademark. It has upgraded Tax commercial centre, expanded commercial network to Tay Ninh, An Giang, Tien Giang and established a representative office in Singapore. Its units such as VISSAN, Cau Tre, Saigon cosmetic, etc. have also recorded high business efficiency and become famous trademarks at home and abroad.
 
The average annual turnover was VND7,900 billion including US$140 million in export. With domestic turnover making up 75-80 per cent, Satra has contributed significantly to the stable prize of certain products such as meat, fish, processed foodstuff, sugar, beer, cement and gold. The distribution network currently meets market demand. Vietnam beer joint venture is one of the most successful joint ventures of the company. The total domestic investment in the past 10 years was over VND1,250 billion or US$550,000, a quarter coming from its own resources.
