Vietnam - Thailand Trade Hits Record

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Thailand hit US$2.36 billion in the first nine months of this year, posting a sharp increase of 44.3 per cent against the same period last year, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade.
 
Ministry officials also report Vietnam has narrowed the trade deficit with Thailand as its export value reached 38 per cent in the January - September period of this year compared to just 25 per cent in past years.
 
Vietnam’s earnings jumped 109.6 per cent on-year to US$646.88 million in the period, while its payments for Thai products were up by a mere 29.15 per cent on-year to US$1.71 billion.
 
Vietnam’s key export items to Thailand include electronics, computers and components, seafood, crude oil, plastics, coal, garment and textiles, peanuts and farm produce.
