Danang to Host International Yacht Race Next Year
An increasing number of tourists have been flocking to Danang since it was ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the world's six most luxurious beaches, giving the way to the central city to make use of its tourism potential. In particular the Danang International Sailing Regatta 2006 is expected to become a unique tourism product, affirming the international renown of local beaches.
Danang is a promising land for organizing sea sport activities such as yacht racing and is highly appreciated by the international professional regatta organizer Goodman Marine International Overseas for its long and beautiful beaches and favourable climatic conditions.
Being a gateway to the world heritage sites in the central regions of Vietnam, Danang has become an indispensable destination for both international and domestic tourists to central Vietnam. The city is endowed with wonderful beaches and majestic landscapes, and is listed among the most ideal seaside resorts in the region.
Danang Tourism Service will be responsible for the event's logistics while G.M.I Overseas INC will seek sponsors for the race
The Danang International Sailing Regatta 2006 will begin in late August and end on National Day of September 2 next year, attracting an estimated number of around 200-300 foreign and domestic guests.
The race will be divided into short and long routes: one around Danang bay and Furama Resort, the next from Danang to Cham Island and the last from Danang to Son Tra Peninsula.
The international yacht race is an important event which will further affirm and promote the potentials of Danang in organizing senior sea tourism activities, contributing to diversify the local tourism models and to drive the city to a regular destination for the regional and international tourism-sport events. The race is part of a recent initiative to promote local beaches.
