In order to further develop its relationship to local business partners, Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam has invited more than 500 top managers from all over the country to its first supplier conference in Hanoi. This is the second time Metro Vietnam has organized this kind of conferences to build and strengthen its partnerships with Vietnamese local and regional suppliers after its 2004 Supplier Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, that was considered, not only the biggest of its kind for Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, but even the biggest single event of its kind within the country.

The conference serves several important purposes. Firstly, understanding of suppliers about Metro Cash & Carry’s professional customers and their particular needs. These customers often require different packaging sizes and bulk units; adaptation to these needs can result in much bigger sales opportunities for Metro’s suppliers. The awareness of how the self-service whole seller works internationally to establish a mutually beneficial “win-win” partnership situation with its suppliers will be increased.

A particular focus will be the elaboration of export opportunities for qualified suppliers. Metro Group currently directly and indirectly purchases products worth $50 million per year from Vietnam into its international store network. Its Hong Kong based Buying group’s representative, that has located an office in Vietnam to serve the Metro group’s demand in importing Vietnamese goods, will be in the conference presenting its most important criteria for export products.

Last but not least, the overall strategy which Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam pursues will also be explained and their expansion plan over the coming years will be highlighted in order to coincide with Vietnam’s integration into the world’s trade and economy that will begin by WTOadmission in the near future.

In line with the high importance of this Supplier Conference, top Executives from the Board of Metro Cash & Carry International and Metro Group Buying join the local Management Board in delivering speeches. 8 specific presentations will be held to cover a wide range of topics in detail and allow close up encounters with the responsible Metro buyers and other managers. The program of the Suppler Conference and a wealth of information ill lead to better understanding of Metro Cash & Carry and the path which the company wants to pursue with its suppliers. Joint opportunities to better meet the needs of customers will be more evident and will provide the foundation for an even more productive partnership with the suppliers that will be more transparent. The long standing international success of Metro Cash & Carry, the ambitious expansion plans and the Supplier Conference as such will certainly contribute to the credibility of the company and spur the future prosperity of Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam and its suppliers.
