Demonstrating proactive collaboration with the provincial government, Viettel Tien Giang has spearheaded the implementation of digital government infrastructure solutions. This initiative aims to systematically cultivate the digital economy and foster a digital society, substantiating the company's leadership role within the industry and making a significant contribution to the overall progress of the local community.

Embracing the Tien Giang development journey

On March 15, 2004, the inaugural E1 trunk stream of Gateway VoIP 178 was successfully linked, prompting Viettel Company to establish the Tien Giang Point of Presence (POP) with an initial workforce of merely 12 individuals. In a brief span, Viettel's 178 long-distance phone service was inaugurated, delivering tangible and efficacious advantages to telecommunications users. Consequently, the company garnered the confidence and robust backing of the government and inhabitants of Tien Giang province.

In anticipation of the 2004 mobile services launch, the first mobile Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in Tien Giang materialized at the Military Command of Tien Giang. Subsequently, Viettel Tien Giang employees embarked on a strenuous journey, installing BTS stations and cables in remote locales.

Through unwavering efforts, Viettel Tien Giang attained commendable results. Commencing with four initial BTS stations and 279 mobile subscribers, the company expanded its outreach to over 1.2 million mobile subscribers, constituting nearly 56% of the telecom market share in the province. Operating 750 BTS stations, including 480 2G, 41 3G, 743 4G, and four 5G stations, Viettel ensured coverage extended to all villages, even those in remote and coastal communes. Significantly, the company prioritized building telecommunications infrastructure to meet both daily business requirements and national security imperatives.

Initially at VND310 million annually, Viettel Tien Giang has, over 20 years, evolved into a leading telecom-IT firm in the province, boasting a revenue of nearly VND1,300 billion. The company contributes almost VND50 billion to the State Budget each year, leading in social security initiatives within the province.

Aligning business development with social responsibility, Viettel Tien Giang, supported by Viettel Group, has undertaken numerous social activities. These include a program offering free broadband Internet connections to 100% of schools and educational facilities in Tien Giang province since 2014, with an annual fund of nearly VND1.8 billion. Efforts to popularize telecommunications services in impoverished communes and households have facilitated the integration of telecom-information technology into daily life, benefiting educators, students, and farmers alike. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Viettel Tien Giang actively collaborated with local authorities, providing vital technological solutions for pandemic prevention. The company also donated VND300 million to support disease prevention, contributing to the efforts led by the Tien Giang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Additionally, nearly 1,000 scholarships, valued at over VND1.3 billion, were awarded to students in 11 disadvantaged remote, coastal, and offshore communes through the "Because I'm Studious" Program over a decade.

Commemorating its 20-year journey, Viettel Tien Giang has not only fulfilled information needs but also dismantled telecom monopolies, bestowing benefits upon the populace. With the dedication, determination, innovation, and fervent aspirations of its entire staff, Viettel Tien Giang has etched a page of illustrious history by maintaining its position as the foremost telecom-IT infrastructure and services provider in the province.

This endeavor is facilitated by the implementation of Decision 605/QD-UBND, dated March 16, 2021, by the Provincial People's Committee, approving the Tien Giang Digital Government Project for the 2020-2025 period, with a vision extending to 2030. This initiative is recognized as a pivotal, cross-cutting task and a significant catalyst for establishing a digital government, nurturing a digital society, and fostering the growth of the digital economy to enhance the quality of life for residents.

In support of the province's digital transformation objectives, Viettel Tien Giang has proactively provided counsel to provincial and agency leaders, contributing to the formulation of crucial digital transformation strategies. A noteworthy milestone occurred on August 10, 2023, at the Tien Giang Conference Center Hall, where Viettel Group and the Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee formalized a digital transformation cooperation agreement. This agreement prioritizes key industries and fields, including the development of smart cities and a digital government, advancements in healthcare, education, smart agriculture, and tourism. Simultaneously, the province has intensified efforts in human resource training to bolster digital transformation initiatives.

During this pivotal event, Viettel, as the vanguard network operator, inaugurated the 5G network in Tien Giang, ushering in the latest mobile broadband technology. This cutting-edge technology, with data connectivity speeds 50 times faster than the prevailing 4G network, serves not only consumers but also fuels the applications of the Internet of Things (IoT).
