Duc Kien Co. Embroiders Successes from Traditional Crafts
Duc Kien Co. was established five years ago and specialised in fine arts handicraft products. Since then, it has reaped great successes in developing traditional crafts in rural areas. With an average annual growth of some 20 per cent a year, Duc Kien is a typical young enterprise in the growing handicraft industry.
Duc Kien Co.’s major products comprise of handmade embroidered products and artistic wooden products. The company’s favourite handmade embroideries include bed covers, blankets, tablecloths, embroidered pictures and drapes. Artistic wooden products such as jewel boxes, mirror frames, compass, toothpick holders, penholders, chopsticks, chopstick holders and statues. These products are beloved in both domestic and export markets. At the moment, Duc Kien products are available in the United States, European countries and Japan.
One of the outstanding features of Duc Kien products is the subtlety in each product, especially embroideries. Embroidery designs are various and the company is always ready to cooperate with clients to work out new designs. The company also attaches much importance to punctual delivery and advertisement.
Director Pham Sy Kien said the company’s targets in a couple of years are to expand sales and boost advertisement in European markets, especially Germany. “Germany is a big market with strict quality requirements,” he said. Germany is a gateway for Vietnamese as well Asian products to enter Europe, therefore, this country is an important target for Duc Kien. One of the initial steps in the strategy to enter the German market is Duc Kien’s participation in the “Vietnamese Days in Germany” organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “We expect this programme will make German customers familiar with our products,” Mr Kien said. With clear development strategies, Duc Kien Co. is confident of entering the global market.
