The 2nd Food & Hotel Vietnam 2005 Exhibition was opened from December 1-3 at the Ho Chi Minh International Exhibition And Convention Centre, drawing the participation of 263 companies from countries and territories worldwide and nine firms throughout the country.

The exhibition was jointly sponsored by the Ministries of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Tourism Administration, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

According to Bui Thi Thuc Anh, director of VCCI Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. (Vietcham), the Food & Hotel Vietnam 2005 attracted both international and domestic concerns thanks to its reflection on the sustainable and strong development of potential food and hotel industry in Vietnam.

Stephan Tan, the Chief Executive of Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and President of All world Exhibition Alliance, said that the increasing number of companies from all over the world, especially from South Korea and Spain, and the expansion of display stalls are recognized as sound proof for the efficiency of the Food & Hotel Vietnam brand name, making it a driving force to help foreign countries to further enter the Vietnamese market.

A recent report published by the global market analyst, Euromonitor International, revealed that the market for food in Vietnam is likely to surpass the US$9-billion mark in retail value in 2008, attaining an annual growth of 41.2per cent. Meanwhile, the number of international arrivals to Vietnam was estimated at 2.8 million in the first ten months of this year, up 20.3 per cent against the same period last year, according to an assessment conducted by the Vietnam Tourism Administration.
