A high-ranking business delegation of Israel will visit Vietnam from December 20 to 22 led by Mr. Raan Dinur, Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour. This is one of the most important working visits of Israel to Vietnam, showing a clear evidence for the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation and benefits between the two countries.
The delegation will have official meetings and discussions with senior officials of the Vietnamese Government, and cooperate with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to open two conferences, one in Hanoi on December 21 and one in Ho Chi Minh City on December 22.
Accompanying Mr. Raan Dinur is Mr. Yechiel Assia, General Director of the International Cooperation and Export Institute, Mr. Uri Bernstein, Managing Director of Israel Export Insurance Corp., other senior officials of the ministry, and some Israeli enterprises.
The cooperation between Vietnam and Israel has further developed in many fields, particularly in economic and trade ties, in recent years, and the two countries signed the Trade Agreement in August 2004.
In the first nine months of this year, Vietnam’s exports to Israel increased by 29.7 per cent over the same period last year, and exports from Israel to Vietnam also saw a remarkable rise of 58.19 per cent. The main exports from Israel to Vietnam include fertilizer, chemicals, telecom and security equipment, and agro technology, and Vietnam’s major items to the country are footwear, agricultural products, handicrafts and garment.
Recent years also witness an increase in the number of visits made by high-ranking state officials of the two countries to each other, including an Israeli telecom delegation head by Mr. Uri Olenik, General Director of Ministry of Communications in September 2004, and the official visit to Israel of Mr. Diep Kinh Tan, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from February 27 to March 2, 2005, and most recently the visit of Vietnamese enterprises led by Trade Minister Do Nhu Dinh to Israel in November 2005.
During these visits accompanied by many enterprises of the two countries to seek investment and business opportunities, many seminars, discussions or on-spot training courses delivered by Israeli experts in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture, and telecoms were organized.
