MobiFone Takes Measures to Tackle Network congestion during Tet
The demand for mobile phone use during the Christmas and New Year festivals is estimated to increase by 30 per cent from the normal day. Therefore, Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Co. (VMS), the operator of Vietnam's second largest mobile phone network MobiFone, has been taking measures to protect its network quality and ensure contact demand of the customers.
From October 2005, MobiFone has started carrying out measures to improve its service quality, enabling the network capacity to serve additional 300 subscribers.
With aim to raise the capacity by 30-50 per cent, the company has installed more 700 new base transceiver stations (BTS), strengthening quality of network-coverage regions.
In addition, many other measures, such as capacity adjustment and maximization, have been conducted to meat increasing demand for mobile phones as the company is launching big promotion programs in the year-end.
MobiFone has also installed more 300 TRX into the existing base transceiver stations, and 30 BTS to expand network coverage in provinces.
