After 4 months of intense competition, the HSBC Business Case Competition 2024, organized by HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. in collaboration with VietSeeds Foundation, has advanced to the national finals.
The competition offers students the opportunity to learn from experts and senior advisors from leading corporations and investment funds in Vietnam such as HSBC Bank and the VietSeeds Scholarship Fund.
Surpassing 43 talented teams from many universities across the country, Team ANT from VinUniversity secured the championship title for 2024, earning a prize of 50 million VND and officially representing Vietnam in the upcoming HSBC Asia-Pacific Business Case Competition in Hong Kong. This marks a significant milestone for VinUniversity, as they ascend to the top position of this prestigious competition in their very first participation.
In the final round, the top 4 competing teams, from schools such as VinUniversity, Foreign Trade University, RMIT University were tasked with solving a real-life business case presented by the Asia Research Centre at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). All teams had a total of 03 hours to research and devise solutions, as well as a strategic implementation plan before presenting and defending their ideas before the judging panel.

Having been established annually since 2008, the HSBC Business Case Competition aims to foster a workable competitive environment, enabling Vietnamese students to assert themselves, develop essential knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to navigate challenges and opportunities in the international business context, laying the foundation for their future careers. Moreover, the competition serves as a platform for young talents to meet, build networks, and learn from one another. Participants also have the opportunity to connect with experts and advisors from major corporations in Vietnam, expanding their horizons and forging valuable relationships for the future.
The 2024 HSBC Business Case Competition attracted nearly 50 teams from 28 universities nationwide. Supported by experts, including senior personnel from HSBC Bank, VietSeeds Foundation, and other major corporations, investment funds in Vietnam, students had the opportunity to engage, showcase their abilities, and develop themselves. Prior to the qualifying round, the competition organized specialized training sessions in English to equip teams with critical skills such as analysis, presentation, negotiation, handling pressure, and more to help participants gain useful experience and learn to navigate real-life business scenarios effectively.
Mr. Ngo Dang Khoa, Director of Foreign Exchange, Capital Markets and Securities Services at HSBC Vietnam, shared: "It has been 16 years since HSBC organized the first Business Case Competition in Vietnam. Throughout this journey, the capabilities and talents of the Vietnamese young generations have never ceased to impress us. By combining academic knowledge with practical skills to tackle real-world business challenges, we aim to provide participants with opportunities to experience and test themselves in the international business arena. Through the competition, HSBC also seeks to cultivate future skills and support young Vietnamese talents, those who will represent the country’s future."

VinUniversity students secured the national championship in the HSBC Vietnam Business Case Challenge 2024’s final round.
Following an outstanding performance, Team ANT from VinUniversity secured the top spot in the final round. Ms. Duong Bao Tien, member of Team ANT shared: "The HSBC Business Case Competition 2024 has been an invaluable experience for us. From networking with like-minded peers and expert advisors to tackling real-life business scenarios and undergoing continuous training, the competition has greatly enhanced our confidence and maturity. Particularly, the opportunity to compete internationally against excellent teams in the region will not only open new doors for us but also represent a significant milestone in our professional journeys."
Team ANT, the winners of the national round, will represent Vietnam in the HSBC Business Case Competition Asia-Pacific taking place in Hong Kong. There, these four talented individuals will compete against 24 teams from leading universities worldwide for the ultimate championship title.
The HSBC Business Case Competition 2024 goes beyond a platform for young talents to showcase their skills. It is a meaningful collaboration between HSBC Vietnam and the VietSeeds Foundation, aimed at supporting and nurturing the talented youth of Vietnam.
