On October 19, the closing ceremony of the “Tap to Share, Give Hope” social welfare program, co-organized by the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), global payment technology company Mastercard, and payment intermediary Payoo, took place this morning. The event marked the handover of cancer screening packages for disadvantaged women in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with representatives from the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross, the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA), as well as leaders of the organizing units and other related parties attending the ceremony.

During the three-month implementation period (from July 15 to October 15, 2024), the “Tap to Share, Give Hope” program initiated numerous meaningful fundraising activities through every NAPAS and Mastercard card tap transaction. As a result, millions of card tap transactions were recorded at stores, along with tens of thousands of hashtag #chamsechia shares on social media. With the program donating 2,010 VND for every card tap transaction and 20,100 VND for each social media share, NAPAS and Mastercard contributed a total of 3.5 billion VND to the cancer screening project for women.

At the ceremony, NAPAS, Mastercard, and Payoo presented 2,010 cancer screening packages for disadvantaged women in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, they pledged to provide 200 in-depth screening packages (valued at 5 million VND per package) for women at high risk of cancer.

Specifically, out of the 2,010 screening packages, 1,000 will be allocated to the Hanoi Red Cross, 600 to the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross, and 400 to HEPZA. Cancer screenings for the 2,010 women are scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 26 at four hospitals: Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, Gia Dinh People’s Hospital, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, and the 108 Military Central Hospital. Furthermore, following the initial screenings, the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross will select the 200 most disadvantaged women identified to be at high risk for breast cancer, thyroid cancer, cervical cancer, and ovarian cancer to receive financial support for advanced screenings.

Alongside the screening activities, the “Tap to Share, Give Hope” program also organized “Zero-Cost Booths” at hospitals, offering essential products such as rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, salt, shampoo, and body wash. Women participating in the screenings will be given a 220,000 VND shopping voucher to choose practical items at the “Zero-Cost Booth,” helping ease their financial burdens.

“Tap To Share, Give Hope” initiative marks the second year of Mastercard, NAPAS and Payoo’s joint commitment to support women from vulnerable communities. In 2023, the “Tap to Pay, Send a thousand Love” initiative successfully raised funds to donate new wigs for cancer patients undergoing treatment at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital. Following the achievements of last year's initiative, this year’s campaign expanded both the scale and scope of support, directly benefiting underprivileged women through social awareness and empowering individuals to create meaningful social impact in their communities.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Đăng Hùng, Deputy General Director of NAPAS, remarked, “Throughout our 20-year journey of building a modern, secure, and user-friendly national retail payment infrastructure, NAPAS has always understood that sustainable development for a business is rooted in the value it brings to the community and society. As part of our corporate social responsibility, NAPAS has donated dozens of classrooms for remote schools and equipped highland children with computer rooms to help promote education for future generations. Today, alongside our partners Mastercard and Payoo, we continue spreading love through practical actions dedicated to women, particularly on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day. We believe that the values brought by this program will not end here. NAPAS is committed to further strengthening our community efforts in the future, continually contributing to building a better and more humane society.”

“Doing well by doing good" has always been the guiding principle for Mastercard’s initiatives which support the communities where it operates. This year, Mastercard is thrilled to see the expansion of the 'Tap To Share, Give Hope' initiative, which received widespread support from the community. This initiative is enabling greater support for underprivileged women who lack access to regular healthcare and raises awareness about the importance of early cancer detection. This has empowered cardholders to create positive impacts to the more vulnerable segments of society through their everyday spendings,” said Winnie Wong, Country Manager, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, Mastercard.

Mr. Ngô Trung Lĩnh, CEO of VietUnion, the developer of the Payoo payment platform, emphasized: “For a long time, we have always believed that technology is not just a tool for transactions but a bridge to share love and create positive social values. We are honored to partner with NAPAS and Mastercard for two consecutive years on this charitable program. We take pride in not only expanding safe and convenient payment methods but also encouraging the growth of a modern society where every transaction can create a positive impact on the community.”

The closing ceremony and screening award event were also attended by singer My Linh – one of the artists who chose to promote the program as a way to support the health of Vietnamese women. On her Facebook, My Linh shared: “By participating in the program, I hope to send a message to all women, friends, and followers who have accompanied me for many years to protect their health and spread hope to those in need.”

The purpose of the activities organized under the “Tap to Share, Give Hope” social welfare program is to raise community awareness about early cancer detection. The “Loving Bus” events held at the University of Economics and Finance in Ho Chi Minh City, National Economics University, Nong Lam University, and during Vietnam Card Day, have attracted public attention, particularly from the younger generation. On Payoo’s fan page, the contest "Writing for the Woman I Love"—one of the program's engaging activities—received more than 50 entries, creating an emotional space where people could express love for their beloved women through moving poems, essays, and short stories. Five authors with the most inspiring stories received five free cancer screening packages, generating positive effects on social media.

In recent years, educational activities about the importance of cancer screening have been widely promoted and have garnered community interest. With the “Tap To Share, Give Hope” program, NAPAS, Mastercard, and Payoo hope to create a viral effect, encouraging more people to care for their health and the quality of life for themselves and their families.
