PM to Attend 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit in China

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, China's Yunnan at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Sunday.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Pham will also attend the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Viet Nam Summit.

Pham's tour is scheduled to take place from November 5-8, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Established in 1992, the GMS mechanism was designed to enhance economic relations among six member countries namely Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and VIet Nam.

With support from the Asian Development Bank and other donors, GMS cooperation focuses on the implementation of high-priority subregional projects in agriculture, energy, environment, health and human resource development, information and communication technology, tourism, transport, transport and trade facilitation and urban development.
