Last year, Vietnam and Cambodia reached a solid agreement pledging to complete the demarcation of there common border in late 2008. The two countries share 1,228 km of borderline.

According to foreign news wires, before Khai’s tour, the Cambodia Government blocked a planned protest of about 5,000 Cambodians who demand greater freedom and human rights for ethnic Khmers living in southern Vietnam. In the past, the Vietnamese Government, however, often raised its voice that Vietnam always offers equal conditions to all majority King and ethnic minority people, explaining that minor oppositions are often the result of a lack of information about government policies.
