Agricultural inventions are key to helping Vietnam move toward sustainable development and improving its position on the global economic map. After six years of development, what has made Vu Mon Engineering and Technology Co., Ltd a trailblazer in creating dedicated products such as Nguyet Lien Huong and Nhat Lien Tra?
Since its inception, Vu Mon Engineering and Technology Co., Ltd has focused on tapping entertainment fields such as restaurants, karaoke, cinemas and spas. However, before market difficulties, the company has reoriented itself to look for a new path in line with the megatrend.
In that journey, along with the personal need for a safe solution to insomnia treatment, it has led to a meaningful direction for Vu Mon. The company has joined hands with associate professors and doctors to research a line of herbal products that support deep sleep and ease stress, independent of modern medicine, including Nguyet Lien Tra and Nhat Lien Tra high-end products.
Nguyet Lien Tra, a lotus heart tea famous for sedative effects, has a bitter taste that many people don’t like. The company is determined to overcome this weakness. At that time, Thu Dau Mot University was the first school in Vietnam to research and successfully cultivate cordyceps and Vu Mon came up with the idea of cultivating cordyceps inside the lotus heart. Doing so, cordyceps extract medicinal properties from the lotus heart, an initiative that combines traditional medicine and modern technology. The product is cultured in the laboratory for three months and then processed with freeze-drying technology, combined with some pharmaceutical ingredients to improve the flavor and efficacy. Nguyet Lien Tra not only helps users calm down and reduce stress, but also has spiritual value when it is used in social occasions, ceremonies and tea parties.
In addition, the company continued to research and develop the Nhat Lien Tra product line, a unique combination of Son La ancient tea, organic lotus flower, cinnamon flowers and cordyceps grown on ginseng roots. The breakthrough technology in culturing cordyceps with ginseng nutrition helps enhance biological active ingredients, brings many outstanding benefits and relaxes users after stressful working days.
Both Nguyet Lien Tra and Nhat Lien Tra are elegantly blended by modern science and tradition, a commitment to comprehensive health. The product not only brings health benefits but is also a symbol of Vietnamese tea culture, which carries a message of natural and human harmony. On December 12, 2024, the company received its first order from the US market.

Vu Mon prioritizes cooperation with farming areas with ideal natural conditions, meeting organic and sustainable standards. The growing areas are closely monitored according to standard processes from planting and tending to harvesting. This ensures that input materials are of the highest quality, not only to serve the domestic market but also meet strict requirements from world markets. Typically, to make tea products, we have built 20 hectares of lotus growing areas in Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province. Each product is assigned a QR code to enable consumers to easily access information about the growing area, cultivation process and production techniques, thus ensuring quality and transparency when exporting to demanding markets.
The company also always attaches much importance to passionate and professionally capable human resources, a factor that plays a core role in product development, from initial brainstorming to product launch onto the market.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy has experienced an unprecedented difficult period. This is a big challenge but also an opportunity for countries and businesses to reshape their development strategies. Vu Mon will continue to develop by creating new products such as frozen sugarcane, ginger powder and sushi ginger for Japan as well as developing fruit teas such as Soc Trang soursop tea, Dong Thap Lotus tea or Soc Trang ST25 rice. One of Vu Mon's proud achievements is the innovation of turning edible mushrooms into bio-leather to replace animal leather, a breakthrough in agriculture and biotechnology as well as the production of environmentally friendly alternative materials. Would you mind sharing more about this invention?
In 2019-2020, I happened to hear about a large German producer of leather made from oyster mushrooms. Turning edible mushrooms into bio-leather to replace animal leather is an excellent but enterprising initiative. What's special is that edible mushrooms can detoxify human waste and turn it into usable materials without being recycled.
Vu Mon decided to join this "revolution". To date, the company has completed applying for a patent in the US after being honored to receive the first bio-leather patent in Vietnam. This invention opens up a potential field in biotechnology, an important leap to change the leather industry, protect animals and build a green, clean and sustainable future.
Vu Mon Engineering and Technology Co., Ltd will never stop but it will continue to "race" to find outstanding initiatives in agriculture to raise product value and foster sustainable development.
