Ha Noi Developing 5-star Potential OCOP Products

To complete the plan to evaluate and classify OCOP products in 2024, the Hanoi OCOP Council has recently organized the evaluation and classification of 118 potential 4-star and 5-star OCOP products in 2024 of 17 districts.

In an effort to build and develop the "Sister Vang milk" brand, Sister Vang Milk Joint Stock Company, Tan Linh Commune, Ba Vi District, has registered 13 products to participate in the evaluation and classification of the city's OCOP products in 2024.

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huyen, Director of Sister Vang Joint Stock Company, shared: Through the Council's evaluation, 13 dairy products that have met the 4-star OCOP standard are the basis for the Company to affirm its reputation and quality with consumers and expand the product consumption market. The Company is currently purchasing nearly 5 tons of milk from more than 100 households in Tan Linh commune and supplying the market with about 4 tons of milk with 27 products of various types for sale.

For Dong Thai Service Business Cooperative, there are currently 120 members and over 360 hectares of Dong Thai Royal Sweet Potato production.

To promote more strongly the Dong Thai Royal Sweet Potato product brand, Mr. Phung Quoc Luong, Director of Dong Thai Service Business Cooperative said: Participating in the OCOP product classification assessment this year and achieving the 4-star OCOP standard will help promote Dong Thai sweet potato products to domestic customers and aim to export this specialty sweet potato product of Ba Vi.

Mr. Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Chief of Office in charge of the Office of the Coordination of the New Rural Development Program in Hanoi, said: According to the 2024 plan, the city plans to evaluate and classify about 400 OCOP products. However, up to now, 30 districts, towns and cities of Hanoi have completed the assessment of 606 products, exceeding the set target. Of which, 118 out of 17 districts and towns have achieved 4-star and 5-star potential, which are eligible to submit to the City OCOP Council for product assessment and classification.

According to regulations, the process of assessing and classifying OCOP products is carried out at different levels. The District Council assesses and classifies 3-star products; the Provincial Council (centrally-run cities) assesses and classifies 4-star products and the Central Council assesses and classifies 5-star products.


For 4-star products, the City OCOP Council will submit to the City People's Committee to issue a decision approving the assessment results and issue certificates. For products with 5-star potential, Hanoi will send the dossier to the central level to organize evaluation, classification and issue decisions approving the evaluation results and certificates for the products.
