The first International Livestock and Dairy Expo in Vietnam (ILDEX Viet Nam 2006) will take place at the International Fair and Conference center in Ho Chi Minh City from March 16-18, announced the Breeding Bureau at a press conference.
Exhibits will include livestock breeding equipment, feed producing technology, additive ingredients and technological products used in milk processing.
Several seminars will also be held during the expo, including on stable livestock production in Vietnam and on the production of nutritious, safe, and cheap pork, eggs, fish and shrimp.
The expo, therefore, will introduce visitors to the development and potential of Vietnam's livestock breeding sector.
“The ILDEX will provide a good opportunity for farmers, traders, technology suppliers, and scientists to meet and collaborate,” said Pham Quynh Giang, deputy director of the Vietnam National Exhibition Fair and Advertisement Company (VINEXAD).
He also said the event will help Vietnam’s animal husbandry sector learn about the latest developments in livestock breeding and technology around the world.
At the fair, companies from 20 countries including dominant players such as GSO Group, Bug Dutchman, Val, Kuhn S.A, Biomin, Meyn, and Roxell, will display their products on a 2,000 sq.m area.
The biggest-ever and most diversified fair is co-organized by Thailand's N.C.C. exhibition organizing company, VINEXAD and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
International cattle breeding fairs are held annually in Thailand, Turkey, The Netherlands, China, but this is the first event of its kind to be held in Vietnam.
Vietnam currently has around 2.92 million buffaloes, 5.54 million cows including over 100,000 milk cows, 27.43 million pigs, 1.31 million goats and lamb, and 220 million fowl. It produced 198,000 tons of fresh milk last year.
The country plans to increase the numbers of goats and lamb by 37 per cent and produce 350,000 tons of fresh milk by 2010.
