Hanoi: Introducing OCOP Products Associated with the Culture of the Red River Delta

On May 30, at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, Tay Ho District, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committee of Tay Ho District to organize the opening ceremony of the OCOP product introduction event associated with the culture of the provinces of the Red River Delta.

More than 100 booths with more than 1,000 craft village products, safe agricultural products, OCOP products from regions of Hanoi, the provinces of the Red River Delta and 28 other provinces and cities across the country gathered in Tay Ho, participating in the OCOP product introduction event associated with the culture of the provinces of the Red River Delta.

This is an opportunity for OCOP entities of Hanoi and other provinces and cities to exchange, connect trade, promote agricultural products, processed food, handicraft products, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the city currently has more than 1,350 craft villages, accounting for 40% of craft villages nationwide. In particular, Hanoi has two craft villages, Van Phuc Silk Weaving - Ha Dong, Bat Trang Ceramics, which are recognized as members of the Network of Creative Craft Cities worldwide. The cuisine of the capital is very diverse and rich, quintessence with thousand-year-old secrets, family traditions along with many regional specialties creating many proud cultural identities... These are favorable potential advantages for Hanoi to implement the One Commune One Product Program.

From 2019 to present, Hanoi has evaluated and classified 3,317 OCOP products (accounting for 21.3% of the country), including 6 5-star products, 22 potential 5-star products, 1,571 4-star products and 1,718 3-star products; is the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of OCOP products. Up to now, Hanoi has cooperated with 43 provinces and cities to build over 1,500 supply chains of safe agricultural and food products to serve the consumption of the people of the capital and built nearly 160 chains of safe agricultural and food products within the city.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, Vice Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee, the event introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the Red River Delta provinces was organized to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and major national holidays in 2025.

The event is part of a series of trade promotion activities with the purpose of displaying and introducing regional OCOP products and craft villages of the Red River Delta provinces. Each product brought to the event bears the cultural and traditional imprints and indigenous knowledge of each locality. OCOP products are not only unique gifts but also a bridge for us to better understand the diversity and richness of the culture of each region and locality, meeting the diverse sightseeing and shopping needs of people and tourists in Hanoi and Tay Ho District.

It is known that during the event, there will also be cultural and artistic exchange programs in the evenings from various localities. The event will last until June 2.
