Vietnam is estimated to earn industrial production value of VND40.91 trillion (US$2.58 billion) in March, up 12.8 per cent on-year, raising the total production value in the first quarter of this year to VND118.19 trillion (US$7.48 billion), up 14.7 per cent on-year, narrowly falling short of the planned 15.5 per cent growth rate.
Of all economic sectors, the private sector attained the highest growth rate in the three-month period of 20.4 per cent, to reach an output value of VND39.65 trillion (US$2.5 billion), followed by the foreign invested sector with a 16.3 per cent increase to VND44.16 trillion (US$2.79 billion).
Meanwhile, State-owned firms gained a total production value of VND34.37 trillion (US$2.17 billion), up 6.9 per cent on-year.
Among all industries, electric engine posted the highest growth rate at 38.3 per cent in the period, followed by silk with 27.9 per cent. Garments and Pesticide took the third position with 27.4 per cent.
Other industries recording high growth rates include ceramic sanitary (+23.2 per cent), knitwear (+19.6 per cent), coal (+15.8 per cent), soap (+13.6 per cent), batteries (+12.3 per cent) and electricity (+12 per cent).
Meanwhile, industries that witnessed a decrease in industrial production comprising of assembled automobile (-39.8 per cent), transformer (-22.1 per cent), civil fan (-15.7), NaOH soda (-15.4 per cent), tool machine (-14.7 per cent) and cigarette (-11.1 per cent) and some others.
All major cities and provinces nationwide are estimated to enjoy growth in their industrial production value in the January-March period.
Mekong Delta Can Tho city leads the country in industrial growth in the period with 22.7 per cent, followed by northern port Haiphong city with an increase of 21 per cent.
Southern Dong Nai province comes next with 17.9 per cent, following is northern Ha Tay province with an increase of 17.7 per cent.
Hanoi takes the fifth position in growth of production value, at 17.2 per cent. Southern Binh Duong province comes next with 16.5 per cent.
Southern coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau province ranks seventh at 16 per cent, followed by central Danang city with 15.8 per cent. Following is northern Quang Ninh province with 13.9 per cent. Southern Ho Chi Minh City takes the tenth place at 11.4 per cent.
