Vietnamese Trade Mission to Survey Spanish Market in June
The Ministry of Trade plans to send a mission to Spain at the end of June this year to survey the foreign market and boost the export of high potential Vietnamese products.
The trip will be part of the National Trade Promotion Program in 2006 and aims to help boost the export of seafood and aquatic products, agricultural products such as coffee, rubber, and pepper, footwear, garments, handicraft, ceramic tires, and wooden products.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Spain has grown significantly in the past five years. Spanish exports to Vietnam surpassed US$400 million between 2001 and 2005, comprising mostly of chemicals, steel, electrical equipment, machinery, and pharmaceuticals. Vietnam also exported to Spain over US$2.1 million of footwear, garments and textiles, coffee, furniture, and seafood products.
As from February 21 this year, Spain has invested in five projects in Vietnam so far with total registered capital of more than US$6.8 million, ranking 13th among 16 EU investors and 57th among countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
