Pacific Airlines Leases Boeing 737-400 from US
Vietnam’s second largest airline, Pacific Airlines, has leased a modern Boeing 737-400 aircraft from the US’s GE Commercial Aviation Service (GECAS) for its domestic route of Hanoi-Danang, state media said.
The 156-seat planes are chosen by most of big regional aviation firms, such as Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, Garuda Indonesia and the airlines of Japan, China and the Republic of Korea.
Pacific Airlines Executive Director Luong Hoai Nam said this is part of the airlines' plan to operate six planes by 2007. At present, four are being operated with seven daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and one daily flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Danang and vice versa.
Pacific Airlines currently conducts 35 domestic flights and 10 international flights a week.
Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Airlines plan to open routes to new markets this year as the Vietnam Aviation Department negotiates amendments to the Aviation Agreement with many countries and territories.
