Cargill Vietnam Opens 5th Aquatic Feed Factory
Cargill Vietnam, a 100 per cent US-invested company, has put its fifth aquatic feed factory in Vietnam with total investment of US$5.5 million into operation in Tra Noc Industrial Park in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
The 70,000-ton factory, the second of its kind in Can Tho, is part of Cargill's long-term support plan for the Mekong Delta's aquaculture development.
Cargill Vietnam has built five modern animal feed processing mills throughout the country with an annual total capacity of 550,000 tons since 1995, Cargill Vietnam General Director Scott Ainslie said.
The company plans to build two to three more factories in Vietnam by 2010.
It has also conducted technical conferences to share agricultural technology advances with Vietnamese partners.
Cargill Vietnam, with capital of US$80 million, is the first animal feed processing company in Vietnam to receive the HACCP certificate for food safety and hygiene.
HACCP certification is only mandatory for fish and seafood, poultry and meat processing, and juice, destined for human consumption.
Cargill Vietnam has currently produced over 100 animal feed products for pigs, fish, chicken, ducks, etc.
