Vietnam Business Forum had a discussion with Mr Daisuke Ymada - Deputy Director General, ISUZU Vietnam, on development of brands and related issues.
ISUZU has been elected as one of 500 best-known brands in Vietnam. Could you share with us your experiences in developing ISUZU brand in recent years?
ISUZU automobile company was established in 1937, a world manufacturer of sport cars, buses, trucks and others. ISUZU is famous in the world with the design of high-quality cars, the best sellers trucks in Japan with series N of 2-3 tonnes trucks since 1970. ISUZU has also customers in 70 countries with 92,665 trucks manufactured in 1996 with annual growth rate of 2.8 per cent. The company has also manufactured 77,399 trucks of 6.1-16 tonnes and maintained the world record of this type in seven consecutive years.
ISUZU Vietnam was established on October 19, 1995, a joint venture between two Vietnamese companies: Saigon Mechanics Company (SAMCO) and Go Vap Import-Export Company (GOVIMEX) and two Japanese companies : ISUZU and ITOCHU. Our motto is to become a good citizen of Vietnam, contributing to Vietnamese economic growth with ISUZU cars. With successful business in the past five decades we want to prove the famous brand of ISUZU.
You certainly encountered some difficulties and challenges, how did you overcome them?
Business activities always have challenges and risks. Without precaution, we cannot succeed. ISUZU has taken such measures as developing a scientific mechanism, a constructive and united workforce and a complete network to reduce risks and secure information on laws, market policy and socio-economic developments to minimise business losses.
Could you tell us about your after-sales service?
ISUZU Vietnam has 11 agents and four branches in Vietnam. We offer clients such services as Competition of drivers, saving fuel, and regular maintenance. We also offer clients bank loans interest rates for three years to purchase Hi-lander cars as well as annual gifts.
Does the import of used car affect your business planning?
No, it does not affect ISUZU’s business operation. It has already happened in Vietnam, the import of used hand phones is also without after-sales service. Our advantage is that ISUZU ensures permanent consulting and after-sales service for its clients.
