Kofi Annan to Visit Vietnam in Fortnight
General Secretary of the United Nations (UN) Kofi Annan will pay an official visit to Vietnam from May 23-25 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, according to the Foreign Ministry.
He is scheduled to meet with Luong, as well as, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, and the ruling party’s General Secretary Nong Duc Manh during his three-day tour, the ministry reported. Annan will discuss with the local senior officials about Vietnam’s proposal to hold one of the non-permanent member seats in the UN General Assembly in the term 2008-2009.
Before arriving in Vietnam, Annan will stop in South Korea, Japan, China, and his last stop will be Thailand.
