German Assistance Improves Industrial Environment
As a result of the government negotiation on May 10 and 11, 2006 in Bonn, German government has pledged a technical and financial assistance to Vietnam Euro98 million (equivalent of US$120 million) for 2006 and 2007. German assistance has increased by 15 per cent and expanded to the protection of industrial environment and poverty reduction.
German government has provided assistance to vocational training and health service in poor provinces in the framework of Poverty Reduction Support Credits initiated by World Bank and other donors. Germany has also pledged to continue assistance with equipment and consulting service to Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi.
Vietnam is the most important partner of Germany in Asia. Since 1990, Germany has provided Vietnam an assistance worth over Euro700 million (equivalent of US$850 million) for development co-operation.
