Vietnam Discovers Nearly 500 Untapped Gold Ore Mines
Vietnam has discovered nearly 500 intact gold and gold ore mines, mostly located in the northern mountainous area, of which nearly 30 points have been estimated to have total reserves of 300 tons of gold, according to the Ministry of Industry.
The ministry says the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh has many gold ore mines in Cao Ram, Da Bac and Kim Boi with total reserves of 10 tons, which need investment for exploration, exploitation, sifting, and processing. It holds that the area should become a gold industrial zone with an annual capacity of one ton of gold.
Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, and Cao Bang provinces are home to Pac Lang, Khau Au, Bo Cu and Nam Quang mines. France’s BRGM Company has estimated a reserve of 30 tons at the Pac Lang mine.
Na Pai area in Lang Son province is estimated to have reserves of 30 tons of untapped gold, and gold has also been discovered in the Lang Vai-Khuon Puc region of Tuyen Quang province.
Despite huge potential, technology for gold exploitation and processing in Vietnam remains backward, causing a huge loss of natural resources and low economic productivity. All gold processing bases in the north have been forced to close down their operations, said the ministry.
