VNPT to Set up Telecom Branch in US
Vietnam Posts and Telecoms Group (VNPT) will set up a telecommunication branch in the United States and will put it into operation in August, Mr. Hoang Lam Vinh, vice chairman of VNPT, said. This is the first VNPT branch in the US.
Vinh said the Government has agreed to allow VNPT to establish the branch and provide telecom services in the US. In May 2005, the US officially certified VNPT as a global trademark, paving the way for Vietnam to make accession to the WTO.
After VNPT opens the representative office, its subsidiaries like Vietnam Telecommunication International (VTI) and Vietnam Data Communication Co. (VDC) will join the US market and set up their branch here.
At present, VNPT is actively cooperating with US’s telecom giants such as AT&T, US Spring and Motorola.
