Vietnam Looks to Obtain 8 per cent GDP Growth in 2007
Vietnam eyes to secure economic growth of more than 8 per cent in 2007, according to a government instruction issued Monday on socio-economic development and the state budget estimation plan for next year.
In the instruction, the Prime Minister has called for speeding up economic reshuffle towards increasing the proportion of industry and service sectors contributions to the national economy.
In 2007, Vietnam targets to obtain industrial production growth of over 15 per cent, agricultural production 4.3 per cent, and export more than 16 per cent.
The country expects state budget revenue will account for 22 per cent of the GDP, of which domestic revenue will increase by 14-16 per cent from 2006.
Vietnam booked GDP growth of 7.2 per cent in the first quarter of this year. The country saw 8.4 per cent growth in 2005 at VND837.858 trillion (US$53 billion).
