Hanoi Seeks Huge ODA for Infrastructure Upgrades
Hanoi will seek $4.4 billion of investment for 20 major projects, mostly on infrastructure upgrades, in the 2006-2009 period.
Under the plan, which was submitted to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, $3.4 billion in official development assistance (ODA) will be sought from the Japanese Government, the municipal authority said.
These projects include the construction of a plant and facilities to treat liquid waste from the To Lich river and serve the management and maintenance of sewer systems, and especially a major project for the construction of an urban railway linking the Hanoi railway station with Noi Bai International Airport.
Hanoi is also looking for Japanese ODA to invest in a major hospital on the northern bank of the Hong (Red) River to improve public healthcare for Hanoians and people in neighboring provinces.
