MPT and Motorola kicked off 2006 Cooperation in Software Industry
On June 7, 2006, in Hanoi, Ministry of Posts and Telematics (MPT) and Motorola Inc. organized a joint awards ceremony for thirty one IT students from 's leading universities in recognition of their academic excellence and ten selected software and digital content companies for their excellent quality software and business results in 2005. at the ceremony, the two parties reviewed the outcome up of a third-year US$200,000 sponsorship program for 2005 to develop 's software industry and kicked off a special US$400,000 sponsorship program to accelerate the development of 's software industry.
The special US$400,000 fund will be used to deploy strategic cooperation projects supporting software companies to conduct trial outsourcing for Australia-based Motorola Global Software Group (GSG). Each selected company will be given a software outsourcing project for Motorola GSG in the telecomminications area with approximately 6 months. The projects will be implemented under Capability Muturity Intergration Model (CMMI) stardard with consultation and strict monitoring from Motorola GSG Australia's experts to ensure that, at the completion of the project, all participating will be capable of bidding and conducting software outsourcing contracts with international IT corporations. In addition, MPT and Motorola will organize training courses in CMMI-based software manufaturing management process in and for Vietnamese software professionals and managers.
Over the past decate, Motorola has provided approximately US$1,250,000.00 in scholarships and sponsorships for different educational and professional human resource development projects. In the past two years, the sponsorship program focused mainly on software training for manegers and professionals in the growing software industry, the promotion of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) as the quality standards for the local industry, and the recognition of top IT students and selected software companies.
