Vietnam to Hold Telecom, Electronics IT Exhibition

About 180 domestic and foreign enterprises will take part in the telecom and electronic Information Technology (IT) Exhibition that is scheduled to be held in Vietnam’s largest economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City from July 11 to 15, the International Database Group in Vietnam said.
 
A seminar in the framework of the event will also be held to enhance the governing role of IT leaders in restructuring IT networks to serve economic growth and boost the application of modern IT.
 
In related news, the state-owned Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) Corporation and the telecom companies of eight ASEAN-member countries have recently inked a preliminary deal to construct the 20,000-km Asia-America Gateway Cable, a submarine inter-continental broadband cable route to link the region with the US carrying a minimum of 1.28 terabits.
 
The group also on May 21 signed a contract with Lao export-import company BTC to set up a copper cable joint venture worth US$5.5 million in Laos to manufacture telecom and electric cables.
 
Vietnam and Zimbabwe have taken the leads among 97 software-pirating nations in the world with the world’s highest software piracy rates that dropped 2 per cent in Vietnam annually from 92 per cent in 2004 to 90 per cent last year.
