Aquatic Export to Reach US$2.8Bln in 2006
The Ministry of Fisheries said Vietnam earned US$1.095 billion from export of aquatic products in the first six months of this year, fulfilling 39.12 per cent of this year’s preset goal and increasing 25.48 per cent compared with the same period of 2005. Notably, the fish export volume rose 46.33 per cent on year to 136,525 tonnes while exported cuttle and octopus quantity augmented 9.83 per cent to 21,219 tonnes.
In the last months of this year, the export turnover growth will be much higher. The Trade Research Institute under the Ministry of Trade forecast the domestic and export markets of aquatic products will be expanded strongly in July. Basing on advantages on both domestic and export markets, the Ministry of Fisheries predicts the export value target of US$2.8 billion this year is within reach.
