Australia has a strong focus on education and training. As at the end of December 2005, there were approximately 345,000 overseas students studying in Australia. Among them, there were nearly 5,300 Vietnamese students enrolled in education programs at all levels in Australia. HCMC provides the bulk of these students. In 2005, the Consulate General granted 1,100 student visas, 21 per cent increase on the previous year, with a near 50 per cent growth in the secondary schools sector. The standards for education and training in Australia are high. Tuition fees and the cost of accommodation, food, transport and entertainment are considerably lower in Australia than in most other countries offering a high standard of education. This low cost structure, combined with a high standard of living and an ideal climate makes for a very attractive education destination.
Australia provides an attractive environment for several reasons. These include a learning style that encourages innovative, creative, and independent thinking, students can select from thousands of courses available at universities, training institutes and schools, to choose the study path that best suits their goals. Australia is a dynamic, vibrant country. Its people are energetic, friendly and confident. Students in Australia discover fresh challenges and new experiences every day, in a supportive learning environment.
