APEC Youths Discuss Sustainable Development in Hanoi
Forty youth delegates from APEC members gathered in Hanoi on August 2 for a three-day forum to discuss socio-economic, environmental and regulation issues for sustainable development.
The forum titled “Strengthening co-operation among the youth in Asia-Pacific region for sustainable development,” is a part of major activities to welcome the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Hanoi this November which consists of around 100 events like the APEC Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministerial Meeting, the APEC Finance, Trade, Health, and Tourism Meetings, senior officials’ meetings, the APEC Youth Camp, and the APEC 2006 exhibition-cum-fair.
The APEC Youth Forum (AYF) is a gathering where youths from different social-economic backgrounds, religions, diversified cultures strengthen understanding about proposals and goals of APEC and contribute to the friendship, solidarity and co-operation between APEC youth.
The forum also aims to establish an APEC youth network, which will be a place for them to exchange opinions and knowledge about globalization and increase youth exchanges in the region.
On this occasion, delegates will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, historic monuments of Hanoi such as the Temple of Literature and Hanoi’s ancient streets.
