Ford Vietnam Becomes Largest Car Supplier for APEC 2006
Ford Vietnam has become the largest car supplier for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2006 to be held in Vietnam in November 2006, local media reported.
The US-led carmaker will supply 220 sedans for APEC 2006 delegates, including 110 Mondeo 2.5L sedans, 70 Transit minibuses and 40 Expedition, it said.
Only Expedition is imported while the other two are manufactured by Ford Vietnam, it added.
Apart from Ford, Mercedes-Benz is another vehicle supplier for the APEC 2006.
According to Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), Ford Vietnam, the second largest carmaker in Vietnam after Toyota Vietnam, sold 1,715 automobiles in Vietnam in the first six months of 2006, including 61 Mondeo 2.5L and 318 Transit minibuses.
