Danang to Make More LPG-fueled Motorcycles
The Environment Protection Research Center of Danang University and Danang Technique JSC (Datechco) yesterday jointly kicked off a project to install gasoline/LPG fuel converters on motorbikes in Danang City.
Under the project, Datechco will equip 300 motorbikes with Gas-5 fuel converters from now until December 2006.
After the installation, these motorbikes will run on either gasoline or LPG.
The municipal government of Danang City will support 30-70 per cent of the cost of the converters, which is estimated at VND1-1.3 million (US$63-82) each.
According to the Danang University, the investor of the fuel conversion project, the LPG-fueled motorbikes will save 40 per cent of fuel costs compared with those running on gasoline and ease environment pollution by as much as 80 per cent due to the clean burning fuel source.
Apart from hybrid motorbikes, the LPG, or liquefied petroleum gas, is now used to fuel automobiles in Vietnam.
The Danang University’s center is piloting ships fueled by LPG and gasoline.
