US$9.2Bln Expected in Vietnam-EU Two-way Trade
According to the forecast of the Ministry of Trade, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and EU in 2006 could reach as high as US$9.2 billion with Vietnamese export hitting US$6.05 billion.
The Vietnam-EU two-way trade value in 2005 was US$8.1 billion, or 27 times that of 1990 and twice of 2000 in which Vietnamese export value was US$5.4 billion, twice of 2000; while import value was sone US$2.7 billion, 200 per cent more than 2000. Vietnam continues trade surplus of over US$2 billion a year.
Footwear made up the biggest turnover among Vietnamese exports to EU, reaching US$2 billion in 2005, twice that of 2000. Garment came second with export turnover of US$820 million in 2005. Export items ranging from 10 per cent in export value upward are garment, fishery products, plastic products, wooden products, rubber products, electronics, household appliances.
