Vietnam Disburses over US$2.5Bln for Infrastructure Construction

Vietnam spent around VND39.7 trillion (over US$2.5 billion) on infrastructure construction between January and August this year, fulfilling nearly 71 per cent of the yearly target, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has reported.
 
Of the sum, some VND12.04 trillion (US$750 million) was implemented by central agencies, equal to 71.2 per cent of the plan of the whole year.
 
Meanwhile, the disbursement of the Ministry of Construction was VND1.95 trillion (US$121 million), exceeding 17.9 per cent of the set goal.
 
The remaining VND27.3 trillion (US$1.7 billion) was carried out by municipal and provincial governments, making up 70.7 per cent of the annual target.
 
Among localities nationwide, the northern province of Quang Ninh reported the highest disbursement as it had reached more than 88 per cent of the set goal for 2006.
