Hoang Thach Cement - A Big Brand Name
Hoang Thach Cement Company, set up in March 1980, is an elite in the Vietnamese construction industry. The company now has two automatic dry cement production lines with a combined designed capacity of 2.3 million tonnes a year.
The first US$78-million production line manufactured by F.L Smidth Group of Denmark has an annual production capacity 1.1 million tonnes. The Danish provided an interest-free loan of US$25 million and a non-refundable assistance of US$6.25 million to the line. Since January 1984, the line churned out the first package of Hoang Thach cement.
In 1993, the factory merged into Hoang Thach Cement Trading Company to form the Hoang Thach Cement Company. The construction on the second production line with a yearly output of 1.2 million tonnes was commenced in the same year. In 1996, this line began production. From 1997 until now, Hoang Thanh Cement has always operated above capacity.
In 2005, the company manufactured 3.5 million tonnes and obtained a total revenues of VND2,241 billion (US$140 million) and paid VND136 billion (US$8.5 million) to the State Budget. Hoang Thach is preparing to kick off the construction on its third production line with a designed capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum. Once completed, this line will bring the total annual output of the company to 3.5 million tonnes, the highest output of a unit of the Vietnam Cement Corp.
In July 2000, Hoang Thach cement products were certified ISO 9001 certificate by the QUACERT. In September 2000, the company obtained the ISO14001 environment management certificate, the first unit running rotary kilns to receive this certification. To recognise these admirable achievements, Hoang Thach Cement was awarded the Labour Hero Title in the Renovation Process on its 25th foundation anniversary on January 6, 2005.
