EOS 400D - New Product of Canon
Recently, Canon has just announced the release of EOS 400D, its first DSLR camera equipped with the new EOS Integrated Cleaning System – Canon’s comprehensive measures to minimise the effects of dust on images. The EOS 400D with its unmatched versatility and unparalleled features is designed to be the perfect camera for any hobbyists or advanced amateurs. Featuring Canon renowned 10.1-Megapixel CMOS sensor, powerful DIGIC II imaging processor and 3-layer Optical Low Pass Filter, EOS 400D captures superb, professional-quality images with wide dynamic range and low noise. The EOS 400D uses Canon’s EF lens mount that is compatible with the world’s largest lens system of over 60 Canon EOS EF and EF-S interchangeable lenses for endless photographic possibilities. The complete EOS system also includes an extensive range of accessories such as the acclaimed E-TTL II flash metering system to match users’ growing needs, with promise of immense scalability of their camera system.
EOS 400D minimise the effects of dust on images. Usually when lenses are changed, dust may settle on the first low pass filter in front of CMOS sensor, and appears as unwanted specks and shadows, which require the hassle to be retouched later. Canon’s new EOS Integrated Cleaning System (EOS I.C.S.) offers both hardware (Self Cleaning Sensor Unit) and software (Dust Delete Function) approach to fight dust. Manual sensor cleaning is also available. The Self Cleaning Sensor Unit uses piezoelectric element to generate ultrasonic vibrations in the first optical low pass filter in front of the CMOS sensor to shake off dust. Sticky dust (‘difficult dust’) is made inconspicuous in taken images using the Dust Delete Function with the Digital Photo Professional 2.2 software.
EOS 400D uses a high performance APS-C sized 10.1-Megapixel CMOS sensor with effective pixels of 3,904 x 2,598, offering a wide dynamic range and lifelike colour reproduction. It is also capable of superb image capture with excellent resolution, sharpness and clarity. The sensor possesses high light sensitivity, offering a wide range of ISO speeds from 100 to 1600. EOS 400D also comes with an on-chip noise reduction circuitry on the sensor that is found in higher end models to capture high quality images with low noise. The 3-layer Optical Low Pass Filter (LPF) helps to minimise false colours and moiré. The LPF also incorporates a hybrid infrared cut filter, which uses an infrared absorbent glass to prevent false red colouration caused by infrared light.
The EOS 400D is available at a recommended retail price of USD 1271.
