PM Ratifies Vietnam-Turkey Economic & Trade MoU

Upon the proposal of the Ministry of Trade, the Prime Minister on October 26 issued the Document 6171/VPCP-QHQT to ratify the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the third meeting of the Vietnam-Turkey Joint Economic and Trade Committee, which was signed in Hanoi on September 29, 2006. The Ministry of Trade is entitled to send copies of the MoU to relevant ministries and branches to lay ground for the implementation.
 
The Prime Minister assigned competent ministries and branches to carry out agreements of the MoU. Accordingly, the Ministry of Trade will continue implementing the “Cooperative MoU” signed between the two sides and study new proposals from Turkey. The Ministry of Planning and Investment will continue negotiating for the signing of the “Agreement on the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investment,” will continue implementing the “MoU on the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises” signed in 2004 and will consider new proposals from the Turkish side.

The Ministry of Finance will organise the third negotiation ground for the “Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation.” The Ministry of Communication and Transport will negotiate to sign “Agreement on Aviation Industry” and “Agreement on Ocean Shipping” with Turkey. The Ministry of Education and Training will negotiate and sign the “Education and Training Cooperation Agreement with Turkey. The Ministry of Industry will discuss with the Turkish Ministry of Industry over the possibilities of the cooperation in garment, textile, footwear and shipbuilding industries as well as seeking new cooperation aspects to take advantage of Turkish strong points.
