The first E-class manufactured in Vietnam was E230, back from 1997. Since then, E-class series (E230, E240, E280, E200) are always considered by car lovers and customers as Vietnam’s most luxury cars, due to the top image, safety and comfort that no other cars have come close. It’s not only because of the latest technologies equipped, it’s also because of the relentless passion of Mercedes-Benz engineers behind, to make the E-class best represent Mercedes-Benz core values: luxury, safety and comfort. From 2004 until now, the E-class in Vietnam has 2 models: E200K and E280.

Since 1997 until October 2006, there were more than 1,100 E-class sold in Vietnam. This is quite a large number in the luxury segment. For Mercedes-Benz, the E-class is not only the flagship, most luxury sedan that reflects the brand’s image, but it also contributes a considerable sale volume and success to the company in the last 11 years in Vietnam.

In a few days, Vietnam will become WTO member, bringing a new era for the entire economy, including automobile industry. “The economic environment is changing, and we investors are also renewing ourselves to adapt,” said Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam.

“I can say that the E-class 2007 is designed to be more luxury and intelligent. Among the new features, the appearance is clearly very impressive and outstanding. Inside, the passenger cabin is more comfortable and quiet. DIRECT CONTROL helps to increase the driving pleasure. The E200K, in particular, has a stronger engine, with 20hp more, meaning 12% more power.”

The list prices of the cars are as follows: E280 2007 is VND equivalent to USD137,000; E200K 2007 is VND equivalent to USD94,000
Compared to the out-going model, the list price is only USD1,000 more for E280 and USD2,000 more for the E200K. “We consider this is a competitive price. With quite a few more features, but only 1-2% price increase. The company has done everything to reduce cost and hence reduce customer’s price,” said Mr. Andreas Binder, Director of Sales & Marketing. “Based on demand from customers, we expect to sell 50-60 cars in the last 2 months of this year.”
