About 70 companies will begin listing their shares on the local stock exchanges by the end of this year, said Vu Bang, chairman of Vietnam’s State Securities Commission (SSC).

The SSC has received a lot of applications for listing licenses, Bang said, adding that his commission was trying to deal with their documents so that the eligible firms could go on the bourses.

Vietnam will end a 50 per cent income tax incentive given to listed companies at the close of this year. Local companies, therefore, rushed to apply for the bourse listing.

Bang said that many new stocks will be added to the market, helping to increase liquidity of Vietnam’s shares.

In related news, the SSC in the last two days granted listing licenses to six more companies, Danang Rubber, HCM City Metallic, Dong Nai Construction Plastics, Lu Gia Machinery, Vegetable Port and Saigon Textile companies.

The Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange how houses 57 stocks with market capitalization of VND71.6 trillion.
