Garment Exports to EU Soar 45% in Jan-Nov
Vietnam’s textile and garment shipments to the European Union (EU) market were reported at $1.2 billion in the first eleven months of 2006, an increase of 45% on-year, said the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas).
The figure is expected to surpass $1.3 billion for the whole year and is forecast to increase by 13-15% in 2007.
Vietnamese apparel exports to the EU have again seen growth, after a fall due to changes in the EU’s quota policy in early 2005.
In the eleven-month period, the industry sold abroad $5.4 billion worth of textiles and garments, a rise of 25% on-year. It will fetch export revenues of over $6 billion this year, compared with $4.85 billion last year.
