Vietnam, EU to Boost Trade Revenues to 15 Billion Euros in 2010
On December 6, 2006, the Vietnamese Prime Minister issued the Official Document No. 2007/TTg-QHQT to instruct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to speed up new cooperative negotiations with the European Union (EU).
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Trade to step up the trade relations between Vietnam and the EU, aiming to bring the Vietnam-EU two-way trade to 15 billion euros by 2015 and to seek measures to persuade the EU to recognise Vietnam as having a market economy. He also agreed to upgrade the chief of human rights dialogue mission to the ranking of deputy minister of foreign affairs.
At the same time, the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation is entitled to make reports on results of Vietnam-EU relation overview held in Hanoi on October 21, 2006 to relevant organisations.
