HSBC, Telecoms Sign Cooperation Deal
Hanoi Telecoms and Hutchison Telecom Vietnam December 19 signed a billing service agreement with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).
Under such the deal, HSBC will supply a series of phone charge collection services to HT Mobile, a joint venture between Hanoi Telecom and Hong Kong’s Hutchinson. These services include on-spot collection, direct collection counters, automatic collection, door-to-door collection and others.
Last week, HSBC and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) clinched a memorandum of understanding whereby VNPT authorized HSBC to collect phone charges at clients’ homes and post offices.
Vietnam now has about 12 million mobile phone subscribers with six mobile phone service networks.
HSBC, one of the biggest foreign banks in Vietnam, was selected “the Best Bank in Vietnam in 2006” by Asset Triple A.
