France announced at the Consultative Group for Vietnam (CG) meeting its intention to sponsor EUR281 million (US$370 million) to Vietnam in 2007.

The fund will help Vietnam develop four priority fields; namely, urban transport, railway, environment (waste and litter management), and rural development. This is also a part of the contents of the Vietnam-France Framework Document on Partnership signed in September 2006. Besides, these commitments also cover the modernisation of the health and financial sectors.

France is very keen on the facelift of ODA capital management in Vietnam and hopes international donors and the Vietnamese Government will simultaneously carry out the Decree 131 to facilitate the disbursement of ODA capital.
