VDC's International Transmission Reaches 80 per cent of Capacity
The VNPT Group said that as of 10 a.m. on December 29, 2006, the international transmission of its subsidiary, Vietnam Data Communication Company (VDC), reached 80 per cent of designed capacity. Notably, the connections to Singtel and T-System were completely restored. The connections to the US and Japan were gradually restored. Vietnam had overcome the partial telecom breakdown due to the fracture of an undersea cable system after a strong earthquake in Taiwan.
All Frame Relay and IPVPN services provided by VDC were transmitted by satellites. Consequently, clients of these services suffered no major impacts.
Previously, VDC’s Internet, Frame Relay and IPVPN services were seriously affected by the earthquake in Taiwan.
