Vietnam - A Strategic Market of Maersk Group
“Vietnam - a strategic market of Maersk Group” is the theme of a press conference held in the Sheraton Hotel by Maersk Line Vietnam. Maersk Line, a key shipping subsidiary of Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, hopes for growth exceeding 200 per cent in its container shipping business in the 2005-2010 period. The growth forecast is built on the market share expansion of the country in Vietnam as well as other fields of cargo and service transportation.
Paul Hoogwaerts, General Director of Maersk Line Vietnam, said: “With Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), we’re confident to attain these targets,” citing the soaring export growth of garment, textile, footwear, woodwork, coffee, etc. “At present, we are operating eight trips a week in five Vietnamese main ports of Hai Phong, Quy Nhon, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Saigon. And, we are now holding the top market shares on routes to Europe and cross Pacific Ocean,” he said.
To provide better services, the company has opened two new offices, one in Quy Nhon City and the other in Da Nang City, increasing the total in Vietnam to five.
