DHL - the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry will invest US$ 14 million in Viet Nam in the next five years through its joint venture with the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT).
Scott Price, chief executive of DHL Express Asia Pacific said that: The US$ 14 million is the beginning what I see to be a long-term investment in Vietnam, similar to the investments we've made in other developing economies like China. He added that the investment aims to improve its transport facilities, expand services to industrial zones and use modern transport vehicles to serve Viet Nam's fast economic growth.
DHL Express will invest the funds in new facilities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Haiphong and Danang, as well as fleet upgrades, direct service expansion to key industrial zones, and new vehicles. The joint venture, 51 percent owned by DHL Express, will start operating in 2007.
